Information You Submit
We may store the information you submit to or through the Site. We use the information to fulfill your requests, provide Site functionality, improve Site quality, personalize your experience, display relevant advertising, provide customer support, message you, back up our systems, allow for disaster recovery, and comply with legal obligations. Among the information you submit to or through the Site, please note:
You must provide a valid email address in order to sign up for an Account on the Site. In addition, you need to provide us with your full name, gender, and current city. In addition, you might provide other optional personal information. You may provide this information directly to us or you may chose to register using your Facebook account in which case you would authorize us to access certain Facebook profile information including, but not limited to, your first name, last name, gender, birth date and email address. You may also choose to post content (such as reviews, ratings, or reservations) that may be shared with others through our Site or through your Facebook account. You may choose not to provide us with any personally identifiable information, such as by not registering for an account on our Site or connecting to our Site with your Facebook account. However, if you don't provide certain information, you will not be able to use some of the services we offer.
When you sign up for a RezGuru account you are opted-in to receiving emails from RezGuru by default. Note that you cannot opt out of receiving required administrative or legal notices. If you feel that an unauthorized account has been created depicting you or your likeness, you can request its removal by emailing us.
In order to make restaurant reservations through the Site, you will be required to verify your mobile number by giving a missed call to a toll-free number. You will be given 5 minutes to make the missed call from your mobile number, failing which your reservation will not be processed. By verifying your mobile number you are giving RezGuru and the Restaurants where you are making reservation unconditional consent to call and/or message you.
Your reviews, ratings, photos, check-ins, message board posts, bookmarks, friends, lists, compliments, account profile (excluding your first name, last name, and other account registration information), and other content you post to the Site are meant for public consumption. We may display this content on the Site, and further distribute it to a wider audience through third party sites and services.
You can invite your friends to join the Site by providing their contact information, or by allowing us to use your address book from your computer, mobile device, or other sites. If you invite a friend to join and connect with you on the Site, we may use and store your friends' contact information long enough to process your requests.
If you exchange messages with others through the Site, we may store these messages in order to deliver them and allow you to manage them. If you send information from the Site to your phone via SMS text message, we may log your phone number, phone carrier, and the date and time that the message was processed. Carriers may charge recipients for texts that they receive.
What information is accessible to Restaurants
When you make a restaurant reservation using the RezGuru websites, your first name, last name and mobile number are provided to that restaurant, just as would occur if you were making a reservation over the phone. Your email address is not provided to that restaurant unless you specifically indicate that you are interested in receiving emails from that restaurant. You also have the option of providing special preferences or comments regarding your reservation, which RezGuru will pass on to that restaurant.
RezGuru will only share the information specified above with the restaurant at which you have made reservations using the RezGuru websites. Restaurants don’t have specific information pertaining to diners or dining histories from other restaurants, with the exception that restaurants under the same corporate ownership may elect to share diner information between restaurant properties. Additionally, RezGuru will share the aggregated trends of diners like no-show probability, age group, and etc. Restaurants may receive summary reports of reviews from recent diners. If you provide reviews or ratings about a Restaurant on the Site, it will be shared with that Restaurant.
Email from RezGuru
RezGuru sends automated service messages pertaining to upcoming or recent restaurant reservations, such as confirmations, reminders, and/or invitations to provide User reviews. You cannot unsubscribe from these messages as they are transactional messages.
Where you have consented to receive marketing communications from RezGuru, you may from time to time receive communications relating to special offers and/or RezGuru Restaurant recommendations. You may unsubscribe from the RezGuru email list at any time by following the directions provided in the email communications or by replying to the marketing communications with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.
Email from restaurants
You may also consent to receive marketing communications from the restaurant at which you've made a reservation. RezGuru plays no role in the content, frequency, timing or unsubscription process of any restaurant's marketing communications. If you would like to unsubscribe from a Restaurant's marketing communications, please contact the appropriate Restaurant directly.
RezGuru websites may collect and store information about your location if you enable your computer or mobile device to send us location information. You may be able to change the settings on your computer or mobile device to prevent it from providing us with such information.
You can choose to access certain third party social media web sites and services through the RezGuru websites. When you do so, you are sharing information with those sites, and the information you share will be governed by their privacy policies. You can modify your privacy settings with those third parties directly. RezGuru does not control the privacy policies of such third parties and assumes no responsibility or liability for the actions of such third parties.
How restaurants may use your personal information:
Restaurants in the RezGuru network primarily use User information provided through the RezGuru Websites to secure the desired reservations. Additionally, as noted above, if the User has given permission to a restaurant to send email to that User's address, the restaurant may then contact the User with special announcements or offers. If permission is not given, the User's email address will not be passed on to the restaurant.
RezGuru restaurants want to provide you with the best possible service so that you will visit them again. One way restaurants can distinguish themselves is by recognizing returning diners and recalling their special preferences. For this reason, a restaurant may use its RezGuru System to take note of your special requests, allergies, special occasions or other pertinent information that will help the restaurant serve you better during your next visit. If a restaurant chooses to note your preferences, that information may be typed into its RezGuru System manually just as a restaurant might write a note in reservation book. This data belongs to the restaurant, since it is a product of that restaurant's relationship with you.
RezGuru also creates back-up copies of all information stored on the RezGuru System for that restaurant, to assist in the restoration process in the event of data loss.
For select restaurants and/or holidays, you may be required to provide valid credit card information that will be passed on to and handled by the restaurants individually in order to secure the reservation. Please contact the Restaurant(s) directly for inquiries on how they will manage your credit card information.
The restaurants within RezGuru's network are separate businesses from RezGuru. While RezGuru encourages them to comply with data protection requirements, RezGuru will not be responsible if these restaurants fail to comply with respect to your information. Any complaints or inquiries regarding use of your information by a RezGuru restaurant, or marketing communications from a RezGuru restaurant, should be addressed directly to the restaurant in question.
We do not rent, share, sell or trade personally identifiable information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. That said, we work with third parties and they may have access to some of your information:
We outsource some of our technical and customer support, tracking and reporting functions, quality assurance testing, payment processing functions, and other services to third parties. We may share information from or about you with them so that they can perform their services.
We may allow analytics companies to use tracking technologies to collect information about our users' computers or mobile devices and their online activities. These companies analyze this information to help us understand how our Properties are being used.
We may share user information in the aggregate with third parties, such as advertisers and content distributors. For example, we may disclose the number of users that have been exposed to, or clicked on, advertisements.
We may investigate and disclose information from or about you if we have a good faith belief that such investigation or disclosure is (a) reasonably necessary to comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; (b) helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site; or (c) protect our rights, reputation, property, or that of our users affiliates, or the public.

We may embed pixel tags (also called web beacons or clear GIFs) on web pages, ads, and emails. These tiny, invisible graphics are used to access cookies and track user activities (such as how many times a page is viewed). We may use pixel tags to measure the popularity of our features and services. Ad companies may use pixel tags to measure the number of ads displayed and their performance (such as how many people clicked on an ad).
Mobile Device IDs
If you're using our mobile or other software applications ("Applications"), we may use mobile device IDs (the unique identifier assigned to a device by the manufacturer), instead of cookies, to recognize you. We may do this to store your preferences and track your use of the Applications. Unlike cookies, device IDs cannot be deleted. Ad companies may use device IDs to track your use of the Applications, track the number of ads displayed, measure ad performance and display ads that are more relevant to you. Analytics companies may use device IDs to track information about usage of the Applications.

If you are logged into Social Media, and you access but are not logged into the Site, we may receive information from Social Media to make it easier for you to create an account on the Site and show you relevant content from your Social Media friends. This information personalizes your experience and helps you create a RezGuru account. To learn more about this feature and how to block aspects of it, please visit the respective Social Media websites. You can also connect your RezGuru account to your accounts on Social Media, in which case we may collect and store information identifying your account with the third party service. We use the information to help you connect and share public content with your friends and followers. You can manage these settings at the respective Social Media websites.
